Ett ställe som är sÃ¥ uppskrivet att normal väntetid kan vara upp till 4 timmar gör mig alltid lite misstänksam (sååå bra kan det väl aldrig vara?) – men samtidigt lite nyfiken. Clinton Street Baking Company (4 Clinton Street) pÃ¥ Lower East Side, och framför allt deras pannkakor, är ett sÃ¥dant. Efter ett par för min del dödfödda försök gick jag, Sofia och Olof dit i gÃ¥r morse. Väntetiden uppgick inte till mer än 25 minuter vilket kändes högst överkomligt (även om det snarare blev 35-40) sÃ¥ efter en kaffe i solen satt vi äntligen med de Ã¥trÃ¥värda pannkakorna framför oss. Och de var faktiskt precis sÃ¥ där tjocka och fluffiga och härliga som vi hade hoppats! I februari varje Ã¥r har de dessutom ”pannkaksmÃ¥nad” med nya recept varje mÃ¥ndag–tordag.

ENGLISH: A place that is so highly written up that 4 hours waiting time is not unheard of always makes me suspicious (it can never be sooo good, right?) – but also very curious. Clinton Street Baking Company (4 Clinton Street) on the Lower East Side, and especially their pancakes, is one of those. After a couple of futile attempts on my side, me, Sofia and Olof went there early yesterday morning. The estimated waiting time wasn’t more than 25 minutes, which felt highly surmountable (even though it was more than 35–40), so after a coffee outside in the sun we finally had the desirable pancakes in front of us. And when we dug in, they were just as big, fluffy and delicious as we could have hoped for! Every febuary they have Pancake Month, with new recipes every Mon–Thur.
